Fort Collins gets federal grant for ‘net-zero’ district
The Department of Energy has awarded Fort Collins Utilities a $6.3 million grant to help turn part of the city into a “net-zero energy district”—a place where the amount of energy consumed equals the amount generated. Called “Fort ZED,” the project will demonstrate a “smart grid,” by first reducing demand and then implementing renewables to make the district entirely clean. Read More

Energy Department awards $127 million to carbon sequestration projects in California, Ohio
The Department of Energy last week announced awards of $126.6 million to the West Coast Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership and the Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership, for DOE’s fifth and sixth large-scale carbon sequestration projects.
