Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) Program
About the RP3 Program
RP3 is APPA's program to encourage public power systems to demonstrate basic proficiency in four important disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.
Utilities who successfully meet the guidelines in each of the four areas will receive tremendous value and recognition for their achievement.
Sixty of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities have earned RP3 recognition from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. Paul Allen, Vice President of Engineering at Nashville Electric Service in Nashville, Tenn. and Chair of APPA's RP3 Review Panel, presented the designees on March 23, 2009 during the association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference, held in Austin, Texas.
