About the RP3 Program
RP3 is APPA's program to encourage public power systems to demonstrate basic proficiency in four important disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.

Utilities who successfully meet the guidelines in each of the four areas will receive tremendous value and recognition for their achievement.

Of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities, 154 have earned RP3 recognition from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. In 2009, 64 utilities earned the recognition, and on March 29, 2010, Paul Allen, Vice President of Engineering at Nashville Electric Service in Nashville, Tenn. and Chair of APPA's RP3 Review Panel, presented 94 utilities with the same distinction.  The 2010 RP3 designees were recognized during the association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference, held in Omaha, Neb. Read the release and view the 2010 Reliable Public Power Provider Designated Utilities and the 2010 Program Award Recipients.
