Plug-In Partners is a national grassroots initiative to demonstrate to automakers that a market for flexible-fuel Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) exist today. The viability of this market will be demonstrated through development of rebates and incentives, “soft” fleet orders, petitions and endorsements by cities across the country. The partners envisioned in this campaign are local and state governments, utilities, and environmental, consumer and business organizations.

APPA, working closely with Austin Energy, the community-owned electric utility in Texas that is spearheading this effort, invites you to join a nationwide, public power-led grassroots campaign to encourage auto manufacturers to develop plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The availability of PHEVs will allow your utility and community to have more choices in the future as it makes energy decisions, may help to drive down energy prices over time, and will help to fulfill public power’s commitment to create a better environment for future generations.
This campaign, which was launched with a press event in Washington, D.C. on January 24, 2006, is already gathering support from public power systems, city and county governments, industries, environmental groups, policy makers and others. Read APPA's statement and an article about the event.
Your participation would be at no cost to your utility or community. All that is required to join the campaign is to sign up as a “Plug-In Partner” on the form listed below and return it to APPA. Your utility will then be identified as a founding Plug-In Partner on a list that will be released to the press when the campaign is formally launched.
